New capabilities
Enhanced Ventilation Design
h2x now performs more accurate coil and airflow calculations incorporating psychrometric processes including humidification and dehumidification. Designing accurate coils, airflows and ducts with ventilation systems have never been easier with h2x.
New capabilities available in your account:
  • Psychrometric calculations for cooling and heating coils (supply, return, outside air and mixed-air states)
  • Automatic zone air requirement calculations (cooling and heating peaks)
  • Equipment coil load sizing across the full annual simulation
  • AHU supply, outside air, return and exhaust airflow calculations
  • Results displayed directly on equipment and zones in the canvas
Note that these are only available on the Heat Balance Method (Early Access). Go to
Project Settings > Methods > Heat Gain Calculation Method > Heat Balance Method Energy Plus (Early Access)
to use these capabilities.
Go to Project Settings > Methods > Mechanical > AHU Sizing Method > Psychrometric (Early Access) to turn on these capabilities. Once enabled, connect Zones to Ventilation Equipment (e.g. an AHU) and run calculations to see accurate coil loads, airflows and psychrometric results.
ANSI/ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 183 compliance for peak heating and cooling load calculations
For customers in the US, h2x now complies with the ANSI/ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 183, a key compliance baseline for heating and cooling load calculations in the US.
Heat loads and Ventilation System Design capabilities in the Heat Balance Method (Early Access) are fully compliant. Go to
Project Settings > Methods > Heat Gain Calculation Method > Heat Balance Method Energy Plus (Early Access)
to access these capabilities.

The New Heat Gain (Early Access) provides a clearer, more comprehensive summary of your heat gain calculations for documentation and client handover - available in both PDF and DOCX formats.
  • Room-by-room heat gain summaries with peak loads
  • Building-level totals and design conditions
  • Breakdown by load type (solar, conduction, internal, ventilation)
  • Refreshed formatting for improved readability and professional presentation
  • DOCX format for easy editing, annotation and integration into your own client deliverables and specification documents

Heat Gain Results Spreadsheet - Peak, Hourly, Monthly Time Series Data
A new spreadsheet export is available that provides peak, hourly and monthly heat gain data giving you full transparency into how loads change over time across the year. The spreadsheet format enables easy preparation of compliance documentation or to generate bespoke reports for stakeholders.
This spreadsheet includes:
  • Peak hour heat gain results
  • Hourly heat gain results for the peak day
  • Monthly heat gain results
  • Sensible, Latent, Total heat gain values as well as broken down into components
Note that these are only available on the Heat Balance Method (Early Access). Go to
Project Settings > Methods > Heat Gain Calculation Method > Heat Balance Method Energy Plus (Early Access)
to use these capabilities.
Go to Exports Mode > Design Reports and the Heat Gain Time Series spreadsheet will be downloaded with the other reports.

Heat Load & Ventilation Zones
You can now create Heat Load and Ventilation Zones in h2x. Zones are the foundation for designing loads and airflow systems, making it easier than ever to design and calculate HVAC systems in h2x.
New capabilities available in your account:
  • Create zones by selecting rooms in the canvas
  • Modify zones to change which rooms belong to a zone at any time.
  • Run zone simulations for heat gain and heat loss calculations at the zone level.
  • Adjust zone design conditions like summer/winter indoor temperatures and relative humidities per zone.
Note that these are only available on the Heat Balance Method (Early Access). Go to
Project Settings > Methods > Heat Gain Calculation Method > Heat Balance Method Energy Plus (Early Access)
to use these capabilities.
Go to Floor Plan Mode > Zones > Edit Zones to start creating zones.

Heat Gain & Heat Loss Results Panels
Customers can now view detailed heat gain and heat loss results directly while designing. No need to export a report to check heat loads.
These results are now available in your account:
  • View room-level heat gain breakdowns (sensible & latent) directly on the canvas
  • View room-level heat loss results in the side panel
  • Click on any room to see a detailed breakdown of heat gains by element (walls, windows, internal loads, solar)
  • Results update automatically after running calculations via the Canvas Bottom Toolbar > Calculation Graph

Enhanced Heat Gain and Cooling Loads
Customers now have access to enhanced heat gain & cooling loads in h2x.
These features are now available in your account:
  • Use a weather station for annual weather and solar data
  • Model building orientation
  • Model latent and sensible internal heat sources
  • Model opaque room elements (walls, floors, ceiling/roofs)
  • Model non-opaque room elements (windows)
  • Run room & building simulations
Go to
Project Settings > Methods > Heat Gain Calculation Method > Heat Balance Method Energy Plus (Early Access)
to turn on these capabilities. Once turned on,
Project Settings > Heat Load
settings should be updated with new options for you to use in heat gain calculations.
Ducting now can be exported to AutoCAD
The ability to export ducts in AutoCAD has been improved. When you export via the AutoCAD export, the h2x AutoCAD addin should now export your ducts more accurately.

Advanced loop design for Underfloor & Radiant Heating
We've introduced new automations and customisation options for Underfloor & Radiant heating.
When tackling a simple residential or a highly complex commercial underfloor & radiant heating project, this update helps you save time in drafting and fine-tuning designs.
New capabilities available in your account:
  • Smart design warnings - Get more descriptive warnings on "blocked" heated areas or transit pipe paths, ensuring you can adjust layouts to be viable designs.
  • Transit pipe route customisation - Pick alternative transit pipe routes to control how pipes travel room to room from the manifold to the heated area.
  • Automated loop spliting - Let h2x partition heated areas and balance loop counts and lengths for a room, reducing the manual design work needed.
  • Custom wall offset - Adjust spacing between a wall and loop to accommodate architectural constraints and precise installation requirements.
